KATSINA - In a bid to enhance emergency response capabilities, the Katsina State Development Management Board (KSDMB), in partnership with the Nigerian Red Cross, conducted a First Aid Training Simulation Exercise for State Executive Council Members on July 16, 2024.

Held at the Board's premises, the event was inaugurated by Abdullahi Faskari, Secretary to the Government, representing Governor Mallam Dikko Umara Radda. The Chief of Staff, Jabiru Tsauri, and other council members were also in attendance.

Bilkisu Sulaiman Ibrahim, Executive Secretary of the KSDMB, highlighted the importance of the training, stating, "This initiative is part of our Board's commitment to ensure that government members are equipped with crucial life-saving skills. Given our context, where access to emergency services can be limited or delayed, it's vital that our leaders are prepared to safeguard and preserve life."

The simulation included demonstrations of essential first aid techniques, such as the proper positioning of patients in the recovery position and the safe extraction and transportation of injured victims from vehicles. These practical exercises provided participants with valuable hands-on experience, enhancing their readiness for real-life emergencies.

This initiative underscores Katsina State's proactive steps in improving emergency response capabilities. By equipping government officials with critical first aid skills, the state is setting a standard for public safety and responsible leadership.

Looking forward, the Board plans to conduct additional training sessions for heads of agencies and other key personnel, aiming to create a widespread network of trained first aiders across the state, thereby bolstering Katsina's ability to protect its citizens during emergencies.
